Style Guide: Lipstick

Hey Ladies!

In the Style Guide series, I’ll be giving quick tips for how to make any outfit more exciting and trendy without much effort. This week’s tip is:

Add a pop of color to a neutral outfit with a bold lipstick.

Lipstick is a girl’s best friend and you don’t have to be a makeup guru to take advantage of this tool. Lipstick can be worn with a full face of makeup or with just a little. If I’m opting for a quicker look, I stick to whatever base you like plus eyebrows, mascara, blush, and lipstick. This way, you frame the face at every level without having to put in the time and effort of an all-out makeup look

If you’re adding lipstick to your style arsenal, start a low key color that you love. Soft pinks, browns, and wine colors are great for this. Try it on for a day and see how you feel. Don’t be alarmed if your face looks strange to you! As with any change, it’ll take some time to adjust to it, but I promise all anyone else sees is a fierce, confident woman.

Once you get comfortable with neutrals, you can start to branch out to brighter statement colors. Vibrant purples, pinks, and corals give an dark outfit a fun flair, while darker reds and plums can give your whimsical, girly outfits an edge. And a classic red lip is always a solid choice.

Don’t be afraid to play with mixing and matching different styles. It’s an easy way to switch things up and elevate even your comfiest outfit.
